North of Broad is a once-in-a-generation chance to create a new neighborhood where one was lost — and to begin healing past actions that divided the city. New jobs and opportunities. New places to live for Richmonders of different incomes – all in a walkable neighborhood. This is a place to connect ‘Richmond’ and ‘RVA.’
9,000 permanent jobs and training | New tax revenue for core city services | 2,800 housing units where none exist today | One of the largest affordable housing commitments in Richmond history | New restaurants and retail | New 17,500-seat Arena | New convention and tourism hotel | Private, local investment — no tax dollars go to developers | Largest minority participation opportunity in Richmond history
By re-establishing a neighborhood downtown, Richmond can create new revenue for core services: schools, transit, roads, safety, and opportunities for every citizen.

The North of Broad proposal is built on extensive community engagement. Ideas from more than 1,000 Richmonders helped shape the proposal submitted to the city in February 2018. Now, there’s more to do— and there’s room for everyone. Find a place to live, a place to work, or a place to play. Whoever you are, whatever your background, there is a place here for you.
